Safari Beta 3.0.3 Update
Posted by Maciej Stachowiak on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 at 1:46 pmSafari Beta 3.0.3 for Mac OS X and Windows has been released. It includes a number of security fixes, and stability improvements for Windows. Downloads are available from Apple’s site.
We’re continuing to work on more improvements for the Safari 3 beta. You can see some of the progress in nightly builds of WebKit.

So, when am I going to be able to close the Safari window by clicking on the red close button in the top left corner?

Just as you soon as you uninstall whichever completely unsupported Safari extension is causing the problem. One named “Taboo” is at fault here, if my memory serves me correctly.

Is there somewhere where we can see the differences in the nightly builds? A changelog would be useful - preferably with an RSS feed.

Take a look at the WebKit project CIA page at http://cia.webkit.org/, or Trac at http://trac.webkit.org/. Both provide information about recent project activity and make RSS feeds available.

Thanks Mark! Removing Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Taboo did the trick!

Uhm. When will Ctrl+Tab come? It’s not possible to deal with “Next Tab” or “Prev Tab” (Ctrl+}, Ctrl+{) with a German keyboard layout. Sigh.

This is not a bug. It’s a feature.

I know I’m way off in unsupported la la land (I’m using Safari 3 inside the WebKit nightly binaries, which allows me to use Safari 3 without replacing the system WebKit), but I have a bug and I don’t know who owns it - WebKit or Safari 3. I’m placing bets on Safari 3, but I can’t be sure.
When saving a picture (for instance, http://www.questionablecontent.net/worryshirtfinal.png is a fun one) it adds the pixel dimensions to the filename, so instead of saving it as “worryshirtfinal.png”, I get “worryshirtfinal.png 600×672 pixels.png”. Obvious bug, and one not fixed by the latest Safari betas or WebKit nightlies. Who should I report it to? Is WebKit sending Safari the wrong filename, or does someone need to tweak Safari 3?
