Welcome to Planet WebKit
Posted by Adam Roben on Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at 11:18 pmSurfin’ Safari has always been a great place to get information about WebKit, from descriptions of the many new features being added to technical discussions of engine internals to announcements of WebKit being used in entirely new places. But the web is a big place, and we want to make it easier to find the many great articles WebKit contributors are writing every day on their own blogs. So we’ve recently set up Planet WebKit, your one-stop-shop for information about WebKit development and its growing uses in the world, straight from the developers’ mouths. Special thanks to Matt Lilek and Tim Hatcher for coming up with a great look for Planet WebKit. Bookmark the page or subscribe to the feed and start reading!

I am very happy about how the WebKit project is opening up and trying to engage the community more. I think that certain kinds of projects do benefit greatly from transparency.
Unfortunately, certain other projects’ Planets have become engaged in personal attacks against other contributors or against corporations (Microsoft). Professionalism is important to me and I have been disappointed by some Planets. I do not think a public blog forum like this is the right place for such invective.
I think Microsoft, Apple, etc. do have higher standards for online conduct, however. I have been greatly impressed by the WebKit project and do think that it can create a strong community. The technology is unsurpassed in the industry. I look forward to many more posts, particularly some more technical ones that highlight the ways WebKit shines.

@smallenperl
We’re certainly trying to keep it clean; I think the WebKit project in general manages to keep our communications polite and professional.

Looks like the links to articles from the Planet WebKit feed don’t work; not in Safari 3 anyway.

Who should I contact to suggest another feed for the planet?
